Race for the Premier League Title

Two teams, one with a history any club would envy and the other a money made giant. Liverpool and Manchester City race for the Premier League. Liverpool haven’t won a Premier League title since the competition began in 1990, now they are closer than ever. With 6 match days to go no team can afford a slip up, however, luck has been on the side of Liverpool in recent weeks as they stole the points against Tottenham with a late own goal from Toby Alderweireld. Manchester City on the other hand have been very efficient although their recent games haven’t been against any worthy opponents they can be happy that they haven’t afforded any silly mistakes. Both teams also have the Champions League to worry about. Liverpool having the ‘easier’ draw facing Porto whilst Man City face a more familiar opponent in Tottenham.

The next 6 match days for both teams see them face some tough opponents. Manchester City have to face both Tottenham at home and Manchester United away, whilst Liverpool play Chelsea at home. When the two sides met a month or so ago Manchester City came out on top as 2-1 victors, however, as much as the two teams have quality players in abundance there is an outstanding rivalry between the two managers Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp. The two have faced off on numerous occasions notably also when the two respective coaches managed Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund. It can be said that Jurgen Klopp has proved to be Guardiola’s bogey man. Liverpool dismantled Man City in both the home and away leg of the Champions League quarter finals and could still yet face each other in the semi finals this year. The title this year is all to play for, Liverpool will be looking to win their first Premier League whilst Man City look to secure back to back titles. The next couple of months should produce some real drama in the race for the Premier League title.

Prediction: Liverpool to win the Premier League

2nd Prediction: Man City to make it to the Champions League final.

Liverpool to go out in semi finals.
